Christmas traditions in my family
Where should I start? What about day before Christmas Eve? Day before Christmas Eve (23.12) we are usually decorating our Christmas tree. We do not have 'live' tree, because my mum is an alergic person and really hates those needles which are always falling down on the floor. After I finish this, I'm helping my mum with preparations on Christmas Eve -> we are setting table in dining room, making potato salad and other things. While doing this we are always listening carols and singing along.
24.12. - so the day of Christmas Eve, we are always watching movie "Home Alone". Me and my family really love this film, it's something like our ritual on Christmas day, I'm wondering if I will get fed up by that someday. Except watching this movie, we are watching another movies/fairytales in TV, listening to carols or another christmas songs, eating sweets and so on. On this day we don't have lunch (strange for some people but Christmas dinner is even better than, because "Hunger is the best cook").
When clocks hit 16.00 peace is fading away. Preparations starts and everyone is getting ready for Christmas dinner. Before dinner I give presents I bought for everyone to my mum and she is puts them together underneath the Christmas tree.
When we finish eating dinner, my mum cuts an apple while me saying a poem about the 'star' in the middle of the apple. Then we drink some tea with a lemon, eat some sweets and then we are going to our living room to Christmas tree to see "how much we were nice this year" -> to see presents we got, of course.
Sometimes my parents force me to play something on my keyboard or sing some song to them and even the truth that I feel embarrased, I'm always singing just because it makes them happy and Christmas time is really incredivle for me. I think I'm really sensitive person (I know that a lot of people does not think this), because I always burst into tears when I got some present (even if it was something stupid).
I love Christmas very much and I'm really glad that I have incredible people with whom I can spend these special days.

OdpovědětVymazatYes, Home alone and fairytales are typical for Christmas. And it is good that you keep the traditions you write about.
OdpovědětVymazatHome alone, the best from the best Christmas TV program :) I like it too. Hope you got all you wanted to.
